The Absentee Shawnee Diabetes and Wellness Program will be sponsoring a youth soccer camp at the Little Axe High School. All Little Axe community youth are invited to participate. Registration is limited so please contact the Diabetes and Wellness Fitness Program at 405-364-7298 and pre-register EARLY!

Elementary Session: 9:00 A.M. - 10:45 A.M. Middle School and High School Session: 11:00 A.M. - 12:45 P.M.

Represent your favorite basketball team in the 2015 March Madness 5K Run. Wear your favorite basketball apparel from any team and come enjoy a morning of physical activity! Hats, jerseys, t-shirts, jackets, socks, and foam fingers are welcome. Come and be the ultimate fan! Best dressed fan contest will follow the 2015 March Madness run!

AAIP’s Healthy, Active Native Community Program Congratulates 5 Tribal Health Department Awardees

The goal of the project is to increase Moderate Intensity Physical Activity (MIPA) by employees of the Absentee Shawnee Tribal Health Clinics in Little Axe and Shawnee during work hours. With approval from upper management and a current policy in place, the Employee Steering Committee will enhance policy and access to physical activity opportunities to increase utilization of work site MIPA policy.

AST Youth Fitness

The Absentee Shawnee Fitness Program has been working with the AST Tribal Youth Program in promoting physical activity to help prevent diabetes among tribal youth. AST Tribal Youth Program participants have really enjoyed the games that the Fitness program has provided. The goal of the Absentee Shawnee Fitness Program is to provide an outlet for exercise and physical activity through fun games and activities. The youth are learning about healthy ways to prevent diabetes through healthy physical activity. The Absentee Shawnee Fitness Program would like to thank the AST Tribal Youth Program for allowing the Fitness staff to educate and provide activities for the youth to prevent diabetes.
