August Healthy Cooking Demo 8/9

Please join us for Diabetes and Wellness Program's August health cooking demonstration on Thursday, August 9th at 2:00 pm.  It will be held in the Little Axe Health Center's Diabetes and Wellness demonstration kitchen.  This monthly event is open to patients, employees and community members alike!  Each session free samples and recipe cards are offered.  This month, it is all about breakfast and they will be serving sundried tomato quiche and healthy smoothies.  Space is limited so please be sure to reserve your spot today by calling Shea Warden at (405)701-7977 by Tuesday, August 7th. 

First Wednesday of the Month 8/1

The first Wednesday of every month, all AST Health facilities close from noon to 5 PM for trainings, departmental meetings and administrative tasks.  Both the PlusCare and Shawnee Clinic walk in clinics will re-open from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm accepting the last patient at 8:30 pm.

Walk-In Clinics After Health Fair 7/13

The Absentee Shawnee Tribal Health System will be suspending health services on Friday, July 13, 2018, for the annual health fair set up (8:00 AM – noon) and event (1:00 PM – 4:00 PM).  However, the PlusCare Clinic and Shawnee Clinic Extended Hours will be open to receive walk-in patients beginning at 5:00 PM and will remain open until 9:00 PM, accepting the last walk-in patient at 8:30 PM.  PlusCare is located at 15702 East State Highway 9, Norman, OK, phone number is (405)447-0477 and Shawnee Clinic is located at 2029 South Gordon Cooper Drive, Shawnee, OK, phone number is (405)878-5850. 

5th Annual Health Fair 7/13

Absentee Shawnee Tribal Health System presents the 2018 5th Annual "RETURN OF THE HEALTH FAIR" at the Little Axe Health Center, 15951 Little Axe Drive, Norman, OK. Please join us for a day aimed at giving you tools to LIVE WELL and BE WELL. We will be offering free health screenings, sports physicals, health education booths, door prizes and more.  Event begins promptly at 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM.

4th of July Holiday Observance

MyDNA Family Movie Night 6/22

IndigeNerd Native Arts Festival & Comic Con 6/30

Native Connections-Strength of Tradition Project's Guest Author

The Native Connections-Strength of Tradition Project brings guest author Amy Sturgis  to the Little Axe Resource Center at 1970 156th NE, Norman, OK on Saturday, June 23rd beginning at 1:00 PM.  There will be a discussion about her book, Tecumseh a Biography.    The event is open to the public and all ages are welcomed.  Ms.

Tribal Elections 6/16

The Absentee Shawnee Tribe will be holding a Run-Off Election on Saturday, June 16, 2018 from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.  Polling sites are the AST Resource Center at 1970 156th Avenue NE, Norman, OK  and the other is at the Shawnee tribal complex at the AST police department, 2025 S. Gordon Cooper Drive, Shawnee, OK.

Native Connections-Strength of Tradition Project's Poster Contest

The Native Connections' Strength of Tradition Project is sponsoring a poster contest for ages 12-17 and 18-24.  The theme for the contest is, "what does it mean to be Native American"?  Poster board will be provided and can be picked up at the Shawnee or Little Axe Behavioral Health departments.  Contestants may use any medium for design but please no glitter.
