Little Axe Pharmacy Tech

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

This position is located within the boundaries of the Absentee Shawnee Tribal Clinic- Little Axe location. The purpose of the position is to provide overall pharmacy assistance to the Absentee Shawnee Tribal Members. This position is under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Must have extensive experience in Pharmacy Management.
• Prepare medications under the direction of a pharmacist.
• May measure, mix, count out, label, record amounts and dosages of medications.
• Being able to counsel with Tribal Members on different prescriptions.
• Accurate prescription dispensing skills.
• Must maintain inventory control.
• Order and return RX products by computer.
• Must maintain all confidentiality standards as pertaining to HIPAA.
• Responsible for all department training.
• Responsible for weekly scheduling as well as up-keep of vacation schedules.
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Some college required with one to two years experience.
• Must be Pharmacy Technician certified with experience.
• Two (2) year experience working with Tribal and Federal programs that affect Native American communities.
• Must have the ability to act in a professional manner, and relate well to Tribal Members and the general public.
• Must be able to work under stressful conditions.
• Must be reliable and prompt, while possessing strong work ethics.
• Must be computer literate.
• Knowledge of insurance processes.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be extremely knowledgeable about Absentee Shawnee Tribal customs and language.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to pass a background check.
