Job Description:
This position is located at the Absentee Shawnee Little Axe Health Center in Norman Oklahoma. The Little Axe Health Center is an outpatient multi-disciplinary clinic established and managed by the Absentee Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma. The Little Axe Health Center is an ambulatory clinic that provides direct care services to Native American patients.

Responsibilities:
•The purpose of this position is to provide technical and clerical duties and provide support to Medical Record and Health Information staff of the assigned facility.

•Schedule appointments, and maintain and update appointment calendars.

•Attends registration staff meetings and provides written reports.

•Greet persons entering establishment, determine nature and purpose of visit, and direct or escort them to specific destinations.

•Transmit information or documents to customers, using computer, mail, or facsimile machine.

•Provides general up keep of patient waiting room.

•Operate telephone switchboard to answer, screen and forward calls, providing information, taking messages and scheduling appointments.

•Other duties as assigned.

•Incumbent interviews patient to obtain pertinent data and information for insurance and billing purposes, updating records data integrity, etc.

•Provide information about establishment, such as location of departments or offices, employees within the organization, or services provided.



Qualifications:
•Knowledge of the laws and regulations on the confidentiality of medical records and the procedures for informed consent for release of information from the records.

•At lease three years of clerical, secretarial, or medical office experience.

•Knowledge of general office automation, practices and procedures in order to store and retrieve general medical records data; competitive level of typing proficiency required and/or computer keyboarding for performance of general office support work.

•Willingness to be cross trained in other clinical functions and to perform other duties as assigned.

•Able to demonstrate good oral and written communication skills.

•Knowledge of commonly used medical terminology, medical symbols and abbreviations, names of medical tests, etc., to accurately enter information into patient records.

•High School Diploma or GED

•Must be able to pass a background check.
