Little Axe Health Center Radiology Services

The goal of the radiology department is to provide the highest quality imaging services, as well as providing the highest quality of care to our patients. Radiology staff receives patients, explains the procedure, communicates the various positions to patients, selects and sets technical factors, adjusts equipment and makes the necessary exposures for the requested procedure.

The LAHC Radiology department conducts diagnostic x-rays, mammography, bone density testing and ultrasound exams ordered by ASTHS providers, as well as x-rays ordered by outside providers. Outside x-rays will require a written or faxed order.

Mammography

Mammography patients do not need a physician’s order for a screening mammogram; you are able to call and set up an appointment at your earliest convenience. You can also expect to receive results within 10 days, unless the radiologist sees something that needs further examination; in which case, the department will call you within a few days. If you are having any symptoms such as pain, swelling, lumps, etc., you will need to be seen first by your physician so he/she can order a diagnostic mammogram.

Bone Density

Our new Bone Density (DEXA) dual energy x-ray absorptiometry system is now available and can assess three major health issues: osteoporosis including vertebral fracture assessment, cardiovascular disease and obesity.

Ultrasound

The LAHC uses one of the highest quality systems in today’s market. Our system continues to expand the reach of image quality through advanced technology for better patient care and improved operator ease for ultrasounds of the abdomen, gallbladder, kidney or renal, liver, pelvic, breast, soft tissue, testicular, thyroid, vascular and deep vein thrombosis.
